The NREI Leadership Academy is committed to strengthening the infrastructure of housing counseling agencies by delivering education, best practice models, relevant information, tools, and techniques in leadership and organization development — all designed to build and maintain the capacity of housing-related senior executives.
NREI also offers education and training to Executive Directors and Managers to enhance in-house counselor support, which is a critical component to the maintenance of adequate support, oversight, and overall monitoring of counselor performance.

NREI Mentoring Certificate Program
A PHFA and OHCD required course, this training was offered to Executive Directors, Managers & Senior Certified Housing Counselors to enhance in-house counselor support; which is a critical component to the maintenance of adequate support, oversight, and overall monitoring of counselor performance.
The purpose of the program is to train mentors to be better equipped to help counselors, especially those who are new to the process, and particularly, those that intend to represent consumers in Diversion court, with guided assistance in day to day counseling activities, time and case management, analyzing and negotiating client cases, court procedures, and follow up. Managers and senior level executives of housing counseling agencies, however, need the training and support to:
- Enable them to garner the expertise to provide support and mentoring, particularly to relatively new foreclosure counselors;
- Enable them to create and maintain effective internal systems and operations;
- Enable them to maintain and grow their operations; despite dwindling funds.
