NREI106 Foreclosure Intervention Specialist Certification Course

This course provides comprehensive instruction in mortgage delinquency and default and the use and application of loss mitigation and other foreclosure aversion/relief strategies. This 6-day course includes instruction and training in back office support strategies and court procedures and processes related to preparing and assisting homeowners eligible to participate in Pennsylvania county mortgage mediation/diversion courts and processes.

The course is designed for participants who:

  • Need a nationally recognized certification in Foreclosure Intervention.
  • Those who have a nationally recognized default and delinquency certification, however, want to deepen their fundamental knowledge of the theory behind the practice and develop or refine skills related to court procedures and processes for county mortgage mediation/diversion courts.
  • Have never received or who have received very little comprehensive instruction in the principles of real estate and housing counseling practice and want to develop or refine skills related to court procedures and processes for county mortgage mediation/diversion courts.
  • Need continuing education credits that will count towards a current default and delinquency certification and want to develop or refine skills related to court procedures and processes for county mortgage mediation/diversion courts.

NREI 106 (Practicum Component)

A component of the NREI 106 course in Philadelphia requires students to participate in a Practicum which allows them to practice in the Philadelphia Residential Mortgage Diversion Court. Overseen by Hiram Carmona, students shadow seasoned counselors and participate in activities related to conciliation conferences. OHCD has the authority to waive the Practicum requirements, subject to acceptable prior practice.
